If you want to use the minifigure as a decoration just unscrew the hook from the head and put the minifigure on the platform.
 
Sometimes minifigures comes with additional face on the back of the head. In that case I am usually leving the head unglued so you can choose which one you like better.
Before the first use as a keychain make sure to superglue all the necessary parts so they won't detach while wearing (I am talking about superglueying head to the neck, torso to the legs, also pull the hair with force to check if it comes out, if yes then it's safer to glue them too).
